Think weekly.

Breaking a monthly amount into weeks can make it easier to manage. Focus on this week while keeping your planned future releases and the rest of the cycle in view.
A SIMPLE EXAMPLE
Start with £1,000: £800 for four equal weekly releases and £200 in Buffer. The first £200 is available at the start.
Bring £50 forward from Future Weeks. Choose one later week or spread the reduction across all three.
Before top-up: £600 remains in Future Weeks.
Illustration only. For three equal seven-day future periods, a £50 spread reduces Weeks 2 and 3 by £16 each and Week 4 by £18. The final week balances the whole-pound remainder. The app can also let you choose dated weeks. Releases are whole pounds; actual amounts depend on your dates and plan. Review the revised schedule, make the transfer in your bank, then record it in the app.
HOW IT WORKS
Make a plan that fits your cycle, then follow it at your own pace. You stay in control of every bank movement.
Setting up your first plan? The app guides you through your banking setup, funding dates, spending allowance, Buffer and weekly timing. Review your plan and its dated releases before saving.
Saving creates a plan to review; it doesn’t move money or start your cycle. Complete the setup in your bank, then start the cycle when you’re ready.

Saving a plan doesn’t move money or start the cycle.
Start with an affordable spending allowance after bills. Review the dates, weekly releases and a separate Buffer for occasional costs.
Use separate Household and Spending accounts. Keep Future Weeks and Buffer outside the balance available to spend by card, using pots, spaces or equivalent reserves.
The first allocation is available at the start. For later weeks, move the scheduled amount from Future Weeks to Spending in your banking app, then record it in Spending Plan.
Top up this week from future releases, or add to or take out of Future Weeks. Review the revised transfers before recording the change. Buffer stays separate.
Buffer is money set aside for occasional or irregular costs during the cycle, such as a household purchase that doesn’t fit comfortably into a normal week. It is separate from Future Weeks, which holds the money planned for later weekly transfers. You decide when to use Buffer and move the money yourself in your banking app.
The app makes the plan; you move the money.
Complete the bank setup before starting a cycle. Starting and recording actions in the app do not make transfers.
A PLACE FOR EACH PART
Many banking apps let you put money aside within an account, away from your main spending balance. Think of them as labelled places for money with different jobs.
Create one pot or space for Future Weeks and another for Buffer, if your bank offers suitable ones. Move money between them and your Spending balance yourself.
Separate accounts can also work for the reserves, although pots or spaces may be simpler. Check that you can move money when needed and that your card cannot spend directly from those reserves.
A MONTH AT A TIME
Spending Plan is geared around a monthly allowance, from one cycle start to the next. Your plan divides the spending pool into releases across the days it covers; the first is available at the start.
Choose your usual payday and the app suggests cycle dates. If that date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it suggests the preceding Friday. If the day doesn’t exist in a month, it uses the last day of that month first.
Need a different plan for one month? If you’re paid early in December, for example, you can adjust that cycle’s dates and amounts and review the revised weekly releases before starting. Your saved defaults don’t have to change.
Bank holidays and individual payroll rules aren’t automatically accounted for. Check the suggested dates against when your money actually arrives and adjust them if needed.
FLEXIBILITY, BUILT IN
Some weeks need more room. See the effect on what’s ahead before you commit, with your Buffer kept separate.

GOOD TO KNOW
Practical details for getting started and making the plan your own.
Choose Set up a new plan to work through your banking setup, funding dates, allowance, Buffer and weekly timing. You can choose whether to use those answers as defaults for future plans. You can review the suggested amounts and dated releases before saving. Saving creates a Planning draft; it does not move money or start a cycle. After completing the bank setup, start the cycle separately. You can also run setup again from Settings.
Available now is your first spending allocation, ready to use straight away. After moving the rest into Future Weeks and Buffer, leave this amount in your Spending account. There’s no extra transfer to make. Some versions call this amount “Keep”.
Use two separate accounts: one for household income and bills, and one for everyday spending. Keep Future Weeks and Buffer outside your card-spendable balance, in pots, spaces or equivalent reserves. Your bank needs a way for you to separate and move those amounts yourself.
No. It does not connect to your bank, track transactions or see live balances. You make transfers in your banking app and record them in Spending Plan.
Yes. You can bring money forward with Top up this week, or add to or take money out of Future Weeks. Review the updated future transfers before confirming and make any required bank movement yourself. Buffer remains separate.
Buffer is a separate reserve for occasional or irregular costs during the cycle. Future Weeks is reserved for later weekly transfers. You decide when to use Buffer, move the money in your banking app and record its use in Spending Plan.
The weekly spending pool is divided according to the days covered by each release. Releases are whole pounds: proportional amounts are rounded down and the final release balances the pool. Any sub-pound planning remainder stays in Buffer. The first allocation is available at the start.
Yes. Under Dates and transfers → More timing options, choose Funding day for a simple schedule: the first amount is available when the cycle starts, followed by releases every seven days. Or choose a Fixed weekday to make weekly planning fit your routine. For example, if you’re paid on Friday, the first amount is available then and later releases can fall on Sundays. Short first or final periods receive an amount based on the days they cover, and the actual dates can mean more or fewer than the usual four or five allocations.
Release count is the number of allocations in the cycle, including the first amount available at the start. Automatic is the easiest choice for most people: the app uses the cycle dates to work out the count. With Funding day timing, you can instead choose four or five if the dates allow: four means the first allocation plus three later releases; five means the first plus four. The schedule and amounts are recalculated, and Buffer may change if your four- and five-release targets differ. Fixed weekday timing always uses an automatic count.
Plan default uses the release-count preference saved with that plan, so you normally don’t need to choose it each cycle. You can make a different choice for one cycle without permanently changing the saved default.
Changing timing doesn’t add money to or remove money from your allowance. It can change the release dates, the number of allocations and individual amounts; Buffer can also change when different release-count targets apply. Review the updated schedule before saving. Spending Plan calculates and records releases, but you move the money yourself in your banking app.
Choose a usual payday to get suggested monthly cycle dates. A Saturday or Sunday payday is suggested as the preceding Friday. If your payday falls beyond the end of a month, the app uses that month’s last day before applying the weekend rule. Bank holidays and individual payroll arrangements are not calculated automatically, so check and edit your dates when needed.
Yes. In Edit this month, you can adjust dates and amounts for that cycle and review the weekly releases before starting. For example, if you’re paid early in December, you can set dates that reflect when your money arrives without changing your saved defaults.
Yes. Your plan is stored locally and the app is fully useful offline. You do not need an app account.
Private iCloud plan sync is optional and off until you choose to enable it. When enabled, it uses your private iCloud account to sync plans. If versions conflict, they are retained for review rather than silently replacing one another.
Spending Plan is being prepared for release. Availability and download details will be shared when confirmed.
